As soon as I found out I was having a little girl, I started decorating the nursery. I love really pretty, glittery and sparkly furniture that looks just perfect for a little angel. If you are also crazy about cute girls furniture and nursery setups, then keep reading. I scour magazines, blogs and pin boards for the best inspiration for angelic girls furniture and keep in all on my blog. Even though my little girl has the perfect room now, I still can't stop looking and admiring, so hopefully this site can inspire other people to decorate their little girl's rooms.
If you have a cat or a dog that is allowed to go into your bedroom, then you should keep them in mind when choosing a new bedroom suite. Here are some tips to keep in mind in this situation.
Choose furniture with metal legs or feet
When choosing things such as a bed frame or dressing table, it is best to opt for pieces with legs or feet made from metal, rather than wood.
The reason for this is as follows; both cats and dogs can inflict damage on bedroom suites that feature wooden furniture. Cats, for example, tend to enjoy sharpening their claws on wooden items (which can leave the wood badly scratched) whilst dogs often like to gnaw on things made from wood (which can result in them chewing off large chunks of these objects).
As such, if you opt for a bed frame and a dressing table with wooden legs, your pet could end up causing significant damage to these items within a few weeks of these goods being put into your bedroom.
In this situation, furniture items featuring metal feet or legs would be best, as these will not scratch easily, nor fall apart if your pet attacks them with their claws or teeth.
Make sure your bed's headboard features a removable cover
If possible, you should pick a headboard for your bed that comes with a removable cover, which you can launder in your washing machine.
The reason for this is as follows; if your pet enjoys napping in your bed on a regular basis, the headboard will soon become dirty.
The grime from your pet's coat and paws, along with their loose fur and drool, will get transferred onto your headboard when they lay against it, which will, in turn, make your bed unsanitary.
As such, it is crucial to ensure that this part of your bed has a cover that can be taken off and washed.
Opt for a dark-coloured suite
It's also a good idea to choose a dark-coloured suite. The reason for this is as follows; even a dog or a cat who is bathed regularly can be quite dirty. Each time they are taken for a walk or (in the case of a cat) use their litter tray, they will end up with some dirt on their paws.
Additionally, dogs and cats (particularly very young or elderly ones, who may either lack toilet training or be incontinent) may occasionally urinate on the base of your wardrobe, bedside table or bed.
This dirt and urine may stain your furniture, even after you have cleaned up the mess to the best of your ability. If this happens to pieces of furniture that are, for example, white, the stain will be very noticeable and will make those items look old and neglected.
Conversely, any stains your pet leaves behind on a dark-coloured piece of furniture will be far less visible.
